Canguaretama’s most famous postcard, Barra do Cunhaú beach, kilometers from the center by RN-269, lives up to its popularity and the municipality’s tropical climate, boasting an annual average of 25.6 ºC and the reputation of gather ideal climatic conditions for the practice of water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing.
After a boat ride, we will go to the lunch spot where you can get to know the local cuisine, famous for seafood, such as the delicious and succulent shrimp, lobsters and mecca (known as the sea picanha.) Restaurant is by the sea on the beach of cunhaú bar, on this beach the reefs form natural swimming pools between the mouth of the Catú and Curimataú rivers.

This beach, although little explored and visited, is in a privileged area, next to the famous Praia da Pipa, which is one of the biggest symbols of the coast of this state.

Barra do Cunhaú Beach
The nightlife in Barra offers some good options, but if you want more entertainment you can go to the famous village of Pipa nearby (12 km).
Baía Formosa is next to Barra do Cunhaú, but to go from one to the other it is necessary to travel the 17 km back to BR and after approximately 5 km you must take the exit towards another city, covering another 19 km back to the shore again.
You can do many things; boat trips, dune adventures on beaches and wild dunes, horseback riding, rowing with a kayak on the two rivers that embrace the village or simply lie down in a relaxation hammock. They are beautiful beaches where the tranquility of a fishing village is still preserved. When you arrive at Barra do Cunhaú Beach, the impression you will have is that you are on a deserted beach with a wide carpet of fine white sand.
On the beach it is also very easy to find tents with snacks and drinks to enjoy your day, while having fun at will. In Cunháu there is an ecological boat tour (optional) to get to know the mangrove ecosystem, artisanal crab fishing and the restinga beach. Although small and quiet, Barra do Cunhaú Beach is very well structured in terms of hotels and inns. There are different options for every taste.
With the coral reefs, the green and calm waters of the beach form a series of natural pools with warm and very relaxing waters. There are two rivers in the region that flow into the sea: Rio Catú and Rio Curimataú. The surrounding region is full of good beaches for surfing, surrounded by Atlantic forest.
